The University Office is divided into five sections which provide service for students and staff: a) Financial, Staff and Administrative Section, b) Academic Administration, c) Marketing and Public Relations, d) Research and Development Centre and e) Information Services. b) Academic Administration
This section attends to everything dealing with co-ordination and implementation of teaching and information dissemination to
students and teachers. The principal tasks involved are i.a. administration of teaching, faculty and department office management, service to students and telephone answering services, student
registration, student counselling, examination administration, distance teaching, supervision and counselling services because of student and teacher exchanges and the development of the information

c) Marketing and Public Relations
The principal projects consist in representing the University and introducing prospective students and others to its functions. The section attends i.a. to the preparation of introductory
material, providing information as well as communication with future students, management of the web page, reception of visitors to the University, media communications etc. The director is Dagmar

d) Research and Development Centre
The main projects consist in administration and services pertaining to research within the University of Akureyri, development and special
projects under the auspices of the University of Akureyri, liaison with centres and institutes operating within the university or in connection with UA and it creates a framework for smaller
institutes and centres and constitutes a link between UA with industrial activities through its industrial projects and it contributes to information transfers from the University of Akureyri. The
