MS in Natural Resource Sciences
The Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences offers, on completion of BS studies, a research-based graduate study programme leading to an MS degree in Natural Resource Sciences. The programme comprises two fields of study, Biotechnology and Fisheries Science. It is a two-year, 120 ECTS, research-based programme. The Master's thesis amounts to 60-90 ECTS and 30-60 ECTS are course-based. For admission to the programme, the student is required to have completed a BS degree from an accredited university with a first-class grade in a field relating to the contents of the proposed study plan.
The programme is individually oriented and the main emphasis is placed on the Master's project and on the student's acquisition of skills in applying methodology of scientific and academic research. The research projects are normally linked to the research conducted within the Faculty. The student is expected to take the required courses, as agreed individually by the Master's Committee, mainly with foreign research universities or partly with the Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences or other Icelandic universities. The Master's Committee ensures that the individually prepared study plan fulfils the utmost quality criteria.
