Phase structured studies are exclusively offered in graduate level studies, most study programmes in advanced studies are organised in this manner. Please note that advanced studies in law and natural resource sciences are solely offered in studies on the University Campus.

Phase structured studies are organised in such a manner that students attend a few study phases every semester at the University of Akureyri. Studies are for the rest organised in the Blackboard study system. It is therefore important that students have access to a computer connected to the Internet.

In autumn of 2009 the University of Akureyri offers prospective student's registration in phase structured studies in the following disciplines:
