Science on the ice
Professor Alexandre Anesio of Bristol University is a glaciologist and geomicrobiologist interested in the extreme microbes that thrive in frozen habitats such as glacial ice. He has led a number of expeditions to extreme environments such as the ice caps of Svalbard and Greenland. On Tuesday, April 4th at 9 o‘clock, he will tell us about his adventures in the Arctic and introduce us to the weird and wonderful microbes that inhabit glacial ice. He will also briefly introduce the young scientists currently starting their careers as the next generation of Arctic science adventurers within the EU-funded MicroArctic programme, of which the University of Akureyri is a part.
The talk is suitable for audiences of all ages and will be held in the University of Akureyri‘s main hall (N101), Tuesday April 4th at 9.
