General Study

In this programme, students can opt for a focus area of their choice and gain deeper knowledge and specialisation in the field. For example, students entering the programme with a strong interest in a particular field will carry out their assignments and complete their Master's thesis in that area. The Master's degree comprises 120 ECTS, combining 60 ECTS of coursework and a 60 ECTS Master's thesis. The academic title is Master of Health Sciences. A 40 ECTS programme, Qualification at Master's level, is also offered but is not offered in specialised areas. However, if students aim for the Master's degree it is good to bear this in mind when selecting courses.

Students set their own goals within the Master's degree programme and choose their theme and courses that best suit them as a foundation for their own research. The Department Head of the General Study programme is Dr. Sigríður Halldórsdóttir, Professor. She assists students in goal setting and identifying courses that best build the foundation for their Master’s thesis.
