sciences and fishery, management and business administration, social sciences, law and computer sciences.
The university librarian makes decisions on purchasing in cooperation with academic staff but all users of the library have the right to submit proposals on aquisition. The library receives
copies of all material from The National Centre for
Educational Materials (NCEM). The library annually receives many good gifts both from individuals and institutes.
Course Reserve Material
Teachers at the University of Akureyri can request that textbooks and reference material will exclusively be used at the library or as short term
loans. These books are arranged together at the course reserve area and they are specially marked.
Hlaðan is an electronic course reserves that attends to and provides access on the Web to information and data, such as old examinations and reading material because of selected courses.
Periodicals
About 500 printed periodicals and newsletters are regularly received but access to e-journals is constantly growing. The library offers good facilities to seek out and browse through periodicals not normally available on a loan basis. However, photocopying of
articles in the library periodicals is permitted.
