Skemman is a digital repository, where data of various kinds in electronic form are placed for safekeeping and access to them is provided. In Skemman final assignments by students at the University of Akureyri, University of Iceland, Bifröst University. Agricultural University of Iceland and Iceland Academy of the Arts are stored. In Skemman scholarly works of the universities' employees are also preserved. The five universities cooperate on the development and continuation of the system.
Final assignments from the University of Akureyri are accessible in Skemman from 2002. They are only available in electronic form. Older assignments are available at the library in printed form.
DSpace is used for Skemman. DSpace comprises open source software that universities and research institutes throughout the world can utilise and adjust to their specific requirements.
