Nordplus

Nordplus application deadline is the 1st of March for the fall semester and deadline for spring semester is the 1st of November. Applications received after that time will be put on a waiting list.

NORDPLUS is a Nordic parallel to the ERASMUS Programme. Its aim is to establish the Nordic countries as one collective educational market. This means that students are enabled to pursue parts of their studies at another university than their own, in one of the Nordic countries, and they have their studies assessed in terms of credits at home.

is a Nordic parallel to the ERASMUS Programme. Its aim is to establish the Nordic countries as one collective educational market. This means that students are enabled to pursue parts of their studies at another university than their own, in one of the Nordic countries, and they have their studies assessed in terms of credits at home.

For Icelanders this comprises the possibility of a study stay in Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Norway and Sweden for one or two semesters as well as the Baltic countries. NORDPLUS students prepare plans of studies before going abroad and they have their studies assessed as normal parts of their studies here. In order to defray the costs involved in changing schools NORDPLUS offers special travel and stay grants.

What is a NORDPLUS grant?
In order to facilitate student exchanges under the auspices of Nordplus, grants are awarded to defray travel and additional costs incurred by students in connection with their stays abroad. Please note that Nordplus is not merely designed to facilitate matters for grant recipients, students can also benefit from organised collaboration of Nordic universities and go abroad as Nordplus exchange students without grants.

In the year 2009 - 2010 Nordplus grants amount to:

  • Air fare, a maximum of 660 Euros
  • Local compensation, a maximum of 200 Euros monthly
  • The grants do not reduce the student loans from the Icelandic Student Loan Fund.
