Presentation: Dr. Alistair Ross: Teaching as a Political Activity: The Teacher as a Political Actor.
Dr. Alistair Ross will in his lecture talk about the dilemmas that teachers face in their everyday decisions about what to teach, and how to teach, specifically in the sphere including social interactions and human rights. Teachers must necessarily make critical choices about to educate young citizens, and how to develop conceptions of human rights with them. Dr. Ross argues that these are decisions that are essentially political in nature: teachers are thus political actors, and teaching itself is a political activity.
